Knut Pani

Even Though it looks like I’m talking or screaming, my work has no voice. It’s only discourse is visual.

Knut Pani's work is part of Abstract Expressionism, where fate, the appearance of the accident and the fortuitous lead the flow of his plastic becoming His obsession for the search of the unexpected event and the intrinsic of this accident become the metaphor of his work. Knut is an abstract gestural painter, since he incorporates the body into his language; it is no longer possible to accept the development only within the painting. The painting is already saturated, so by appropriating the corporeal, he vitalizes it.Now everything is clear: the painting will have to go out into the three- dimensional space through movement, just like Jackson Pollock makes his work virtually in space.

Precisely a proposal where the heart of the phenomenological experience proposed by Merleau Ponty. Emphasizing the relationship between inside-outside, between volume and void, between object and space, all senses are mobilized simultaneously.

Pani's painting reveals those signs that do not lend themselves to easy reading according to established codes, and yet they belong, however, to the codes of more generalized use: to the alphabet, when the succulent thickness of the impoasto or gouache suggests the matter compositions invvite the sensual enjoyument of touch.

We find in his painting, echoes of Motherwell, Kooning and Franz Kline, where the chromatic stain explodes and multiplies, in a spontaneous deployment that gestates an infinity of possibilities. Emotional landscape that goes from white to black, passing through shades of gray, play of mirrors of a retina that unfolds in hatchings and implosions. Knut Pani, wants to show the essence of the emotional gesture and to make evident within an abstract language the most elemental of the human condition; the confrontation of man with his destiny. Facing the blank surface, the emptiness that one wants to fill with meaning, being in front of a bottomless abyss. Giving meaning to existence is man's challenge to life and defines his connection with the universe.
